Beginners Sewing Classes


This 5 week class gives an introduction to basic machine operation, dressmaking terms and skills, a finished sample and notes to take home as reference.


Topics include:

Machine operation

Machine troubleshooting

Accuracy, consistency and confidence

Seam techniques

Hem techniques

Zip insertion

Buttonholes and button sewing

Clipping, notching and finishing


May also be covered:

Standard pattern terminology

Fabric terms and handling

Ease, stay stitching and gathering


To be held on the following dates at 6pm – 8pm, Monday.

4th Mar

Note: If you cannot attend all of the dates for one term, please do not book this class.

Class is to be held in the showroom of unit 4 61-65  Russel St, Werribee. The big red door (that will probably be open with the lights on.)


Things to bring:

Sewing machine with foot control and power cord

All machine presser feet and accessories (if you can find them)

A good quality colourful thread (no black, white or cream)

Snips or scissors

A seam ripper


Tape measure or ruler

Fabric marker; chalk, fade pen, chaco pen, sewline duo etc.


You will get:

Enough pre-cut fabric to finish your project



Practice fabric
